How to inflate a latex balloon

How To Inflate Latex Balloons

Here are some instructions of how to inflate a latex balloon, regardless if you are filling it with helium or with air.

Stretch & Prepare The Balloon

Stretch it.  This helps prepare the balloon for easier inflation. This is also where you would add the Hi-Float if using it.

Inflate The Balloon

You can use hand-pumps or inflating machines to fill with air, or use a helium tank to fill with helium.  Check out our wide variety of inflating machines, both manual and automatic!

Underinflated, Ideal, Overinflated

Notice how the balloon is still very round.  This can be useful for certain air-filled balloons and design ideas, but not for helium-filled balloons.

Here the balloon is somewhat of a teardrop shape, not perfectly round, but the neck is also not too long. This is ideal for getting the most buoyancy.

Here the balloon is overinflated.  You can see the neck portion of the balloon is very long.  Overinflating may not look as attractive, and also will make the balloon pop more easily by the very slightest rub or bump. It also doesn't give the balloon much room to expand in case they warm up in the sun or in a warm room.

Check The Size Using A Balloon Sizer

Try using a sizing tool, sold here, for easier sizing especially for balloon sculptures and high-volume orders.

Tie The Balloon

Tie the balloon immediately as to keep all the air in.  Consider using balloon ties and balloon clips sold here.
