Outdoor Balloon Decorating Tips

Read these tips to keep your balloons resilient against outdoor weather.

Tips For Outdoor Balloon Decorating

Balloons

  1. Use high quality balloons, such as the brands sold here at Balloons Online.  Cheap balloons will have a higher risk of popping or deflating in various weather conditions.
  2. Keep balloons in shaded areas, or out of direct sunlight if possible.
  3. Lighter coloured balloons will stand up better against the direct sunlight.  Dark colours are more likely to heat up and possibly pop.
  4. For helium-filled latex balloons, using Hi-Float will help ensure more longevity against the elements.
  5. When inflating helium balloons, inflate to their max, and then remove a touch of air.  This will ensure that the balloons have room to expand due to sunlight/warmth.  Filling them to their max initially will allow for less resistance when expanding and reduce the chance for popping.
  6. Do not leave inflated balloons, helium filled or not, outside overnight as the fluctuating temperatures and humidity can reduce their quality and float time.

Other Decoration

  1. Take into account wind direction when placing balloon bouquets and balloon sculptures.  Try and place in the way of a wind sheild such as a tree or other structures.
  2. Ensure bouquets have enough weight not only to keep them down, but to keep them in place when wind is blowing.  You may want to consider extra weight than usual.
  3. Add extra weight to the bases of your balloon arches or balloon columns.
