Balloon Shine/Hi-Shine: Why & How to use it.

What is Balloon Shine/Hi-Shine?

Balloon shine is a simple spray that adds more sheen and makes your latex balloons brighter. It's very simple to use and quite an inexpensive "trick of the trade" to beautify your balloon decorations.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Aren't latex balloons already shiny? Some are more shiny than others.  At balloons online, we use high quality balloons that look great even with a balloon shine spray.  However, adding this spray can enhance the brightness and sheen even more.  As well, if you already have some lower quality balloons that look a bit dull, adding this spray will really take them to the next level.
  2. Is it cost effective? Yes, you do not need to soak or over spray the balloons in order to add shine.  It only requires one spray to shine a balloon. An 8 oz bottle will last for many decorating jobs.
  3. Is it toxic? Balloon Shine and Hi-Shine are not highly toxic sprays that need to be used in a ventilated area. Read the labels of the bottles when you receive them for any additional information.
  4. Can I use Hi-Float and a shining spray on the same balloon? Yes, but make sure the hi-float dries first before adding the spray.

How To Use Balloon Shine/Hi-Shine

Select the tabs below to read more on the steps and tips of using a balloon shining spray.

Inflate your latex balloon as you normally would. Tie the valve shut, and tie the balloon to your ribbon if it will be free standing.

If you are using Hi-Float, then ideally you will want to let the Hi-Float dry before adding the Balloon Shine/Hi-Shine. You will want to wait several hours for the Hi-Float to dry. Adding the shine may create a barrier that makes it more difficult for moisture in the Hi-Float to evaporate.  This can lead to your balloon being too heavy to hold up if filled with helium.

Follow these simple steps to apply the shine.  Also read the instructions on your bottle as well before using.

  1. Apply half a spray to each side of the balloon.  Don't push the spray nozzle all the way down for each spray, only half way.
  2. Use the glove provided to quickly distribute the spray as evenly as you can around the balloon.  You don't need to over-rub, the shine will move over the entire balloon.
  3. Don't overuse the spray.  Each balloon only requires a gentle coating.
  4. The initial spray may appear milky white at first, but will eventually dry clear.
